About Me

I started reflecting on what it means to be a mother when my wife, Kristi, became pregnant with our twins. This blog is my answer to that question and the journey it took me to get to the answer. My wife and I used donor sperm to conceive our kids. Because of that, I felt like I couldn’t connect with biological or adoptive parents; I existed somewhere in the middle. My wife and I couldn’t connect like biological parents having their child or adoptive parents, because our connection to our kids would be different. I felt like her connection to them would always be stronger than mine, and I resented her for that.

When she was pregnant, I looked for stories like mine that I could connect to, or for someone who had been through it to tell me it would be fine, but I couldn’t find the stories I needed, so I wrote my own. I hope this helps people at the beginning of this journey.
